Scouts

Scouts have a wide and varied programme of activities both outdoors and indoors including camping, hiking, pioneering and skill development.  It is all about learning by doing in a small group system.

Scouts are active for the duration of school terms and can participate in county and regional national events including the Smelvin Cup.

Stillorgan were the novice winners of the 2010 Smelvin cup challenge.

The highlight of a scout year is summer camp which can include some night hikes, but camps at Easter and in October are also quite popular.

The Troop is organised into smaller groups called patrols, with an older Scout (Patrol Leader) taking responsibility for organising some of the activities.

Scouts also have a progressive badge scheme finishing with the Chief Scouts Award.
